Equal tee is a common type of pipe tee with the same nominal diameter at all three connecting ends. Shaped like the letter T, it serves as a critical pipe fitting for fluid diversion and convergence in industrial piping systems. Distinct from reducing tee with different branch sizes, equal tee maintains consistent pipe diameter on the main run and branch outlet, allowing balanced flow distribution when pipelines split or combine. It can be manufactured by seamless hot extrusion, hydraulic bulging or welding forming, and is widely selected when the main pipeline and branch pipeline adopt the same specification.

Equal tees are produced with mature standardized forming technologies. Integral seamless equal tees are mainly made via hot extrusion process. The seamless pipe blank is heated to plastic forming temperature, and external hydraulic force pushes the metal material to bulge outwards and form the branch port integrally. This manufacturing method avoids welding seams and guarantees uniform wall thickness at the intersection. For large-diameter specifications, welded equal tees are also available by cutting openings and welding branch pipes. Raw materials include carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel to adapt to water, steam, oil, natural gas and various chemical media. After forming, machining of welding bevels, surface finishing and anti-corrosion treatment will be completed. All finished products undergo strict dimensional inspection and non-destructive testing to eliminate internal cracks, thinning and other defects, complying with ASME B16.9 and other international standards.

The biggest feature of equal tee lies in its uniform three-way caliber design. When fluid flows through the tee junction, the consistent inner diameter reduces sudden flow cross-section changes. If the pipeline layout requires evenly distributing medium flow to two branch lines, equal tee becomes the optimal choice. Integrally formed seamless equal tee boasts excellent mechanical strength. Without welding weak points, it performs well under high pressure, high temperature and frequent thermal cycling, effectively preventing leakage risks. Nevertheless, flow impact inevitably exists at the three-way intersection. When transporting high-speed abrasive media, proper flow velocity control is required to reduce inner wall erosion and extend service life.

Equal tees have wide application scenarios across numerous industries. They are extensively used in petrochemical facilities, thermal power plants, long-distance oil and gas pipelines, municipal water supply and heating networks, as well as ship piping systems. Engineers choose equal tees for pipeline branches where the branch pipeline needs to transport the equivalent flow volume as the main pipe. When the flow demand of branch pipeline is far lower than the main pipeline, reducing tee will be a more appropriate alternative. Users can select seamless or welded types according to working pressure, medium corrosiveness and project budget.

In summary, equal tee is a standardized three-way fitting designed for balanced fluid distribution. With simple structure, stable performance and complete specifications, it realizes reliable flow separation and convergence for pipelines of identical diameter. Proper model selection and quality control help equal tee maintain long-term safe operation, making it a fundamental component for constructing various industrial fluid transmission networks.
